J is for Junk: Ways to Turn Trash into Treasures

My family knows I'm big on recycling and my husband and I have both gotten after our parents for not doing it. I hate throwing things away if I don't have to and use cloth diapers partially for that reason. Honestly it's taken me a while to come up with some inspiration for my J post but I love the idea of using things you already have around your house sort of like the egg carton crafts. j is for JUNK!

I is for Ice: 5 Artsy Science Projects

I know we are all excited to be past winter so you may not be too excited about the idea of ice. BUT many of these are fun ideas for summer months because they can be messy and would be great for outside time. Today I've collected five ice themed activities. Most of them can be considered both art and science in one!

H is for Hands On: A Guide to Multisensory Teachng

What does multisensory teaching have to do with creativity in your homeschool? Well in order to teach with a multisensory approach it takes a little creativity! There are curricula out that and 'll help you with a few but some subjects are a little tricky to teach this way.

As a kid, my favorite  teacher was my fifth grade teacher Mrs. Arnold. She loved teaching and using hands on activities to do so. Keeping us involved helped us learn so much more! I've learned the same with my own children. When they are involved in the learning they enjoy it much more when things are taught using several of the senses. Not sure where to start with multi-sensory teaching? I'm here to help!

G is for Games

Do your kids love games? I know mine do! We have a closet shelf full of games plus a small cupboard shelf stuffed with them. Games can be used to teach many things both academic and social. My friend Tara is a "playologist" for Simply Fun games. I've had a lot of fun looking through a lot of their games!

My kids love playing just about any kind of game and so do I. I also love that they can be used to teach and reinforce many things. Some you may be learning in your school lessons and others are just perks of playing the games. Here's the benefits of using games in your homeschool. Get creative with it and pull out the games whenever you get a few minutes. Have fun playing and your kids probably won't even realize that they are learning!
