Just 18 Summers: Book Review

As a parent you know how fast time seems to fly! I never realized why adults always said it until I had my own children. Now my oldest is about to turn 10 and it's hard to b believe and figure out where all that time has gone!

That's the same idea behind a book I just finished reading called, Just 18 Summers. This book follows the stories of four families. Tippy and Daphne are about to have their first baby. Helen and Charles are business moguls who have tried to give their children every opportunity they never had. Have they missed the mark though? Larry and Beth have one child who just graduated and another getting married and are struggling with their children "leaving the nest." Then there's Butch with hi daughter Ava. He recently lost his wife and is learning to raise their daughter alone.

I'm amazed at how well the authors intertwined all of these character's stories! With that many people it could get very choppy but the authors would share one person's perspective and pick up the story with the next.To me it was wonderful! `

I think we all need a reminder that we are given our children as gifts from God but we only have so much time with them before they are off on their own! This book was a great reminder to enjoy my time with my children and make the most of it. As I was reading I could relate with Daphne who, as a first time mother, was afraid of everything possible. It made me laugh at times but I remember being that way!  With the other characters I could either see bits of myself or people I know in them which made this a fun and easy read. I've really enjoyed this one more than I initially thought I would.

What good book have you read lately?
