For encouragement!
We found our church over nine years ago just before Chelsea was born. We had visited my husbands family church but were invited to come visit a church of a life long friend. We went and were just amazed at the amount of love and hospitality these people showed us! Instead of being looked down on for being an unwed couple about to have a baby they welcomed us with open arms! We realized that these people are part of God's family but, we have come to consider them OUR family.
So many people who consider themselves Christians say "I don't need to go to church. " But Mathew 18:20 says
For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
God is there when we gather as a church family to praise Him and learn. Colossians 3:16 says
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
If we aren't gathering with our brothers and sisters in Christ we aren't doing these things which we are told to do in Colossians and many other places in the Bible.
We have been so encouraged by our church family. There are people who have more wisdom than we do and they encourage us in raising our children, our marriage, our walk with Christ and just making it through every day life.
On Sunday's from September until May our church has lunch after Sunday school. It is such a wonderful time of fellowship with our family that once summer comes we miss that time each Sunday afternoon and can't wait for it to start again!
Here's my encouragement and suggestion for today. First if your heart isn't right with Christ that's the first step.
Romans 3:23 tells us "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
We are all sinners and NEED His salvation in order to get into heaven.
"Not by works of righteousness that we have done but by His mercy He saves us."
If you believe that He has died for your sins. The next step is to pray and ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins and for His saving grace.
Secondly, if you've already accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, you need to get connected to a Bible teaching church. That is where we grow, learn and are encouraged in our walk with Jesus!
How has your church family encouraged you?
Have a blessed Lord's day!
